Grow

Welcome to the Big Spring Weekend Away. We know that city life is a busy life, which is why we are so excited for a whole weekend of intentionally setting aside time to grow with God and with each other.

We grow by responding to Jesus here and now, not when life feels tidy or we feel ready. We grow in impact by boldly speaking good news and living with kingdom authority in a world where darkness is real. We hope you leave hungry. Hungry for more of Jesus. Hungry for more of his kingdom. Because hunger leads to growth. And God says grow.

Teaching Recap

1. Real People, Not Ready People

Matthew 4.12–23

We began the weekend by anchoring the church in a simple conviction: God says grow.

Growth is not pressure but the natural outcome of spiritual life. Just as Jesus begins his ministry in the middle of real, messy reality, announcing that the kingdom has come near, he calls ordinary people in ordinary places to follow him. Not because they are ready, but because he is near. Discipleship begins here and now, with real people responding to a present invitation to follow him.

2. Preach Like Jesus

Mark 3:13–14

If the kingdom has come near, it must be announced. So, God’s people preach.

Not as professionals on platforms, but as ordinary disciples speaking the good news of the kingdom in everyday life. In a culture where faith can feel costly to name, courage does not come from personality or perfect answers but from proximity to Jesus and the power of the Spirit. As we stay close to him, we grow in confidence to speak simple, faithful words that point people to Christ.

3. Exorcism for Beginners

But the kingdom does more than speak. It confronts darkness.

Jesus didn’t come merely to be nice. He came announcing a kingdom that challenges and displaces evil. Evil is not just theoretical but personal, systemic and spiritual, and the cross decisively disarms it. Exorcism for beginners is not ghost-hunting but shining light where darkness prefers to hide, confronting lies with truth, injustice with courage and shame with grace. Spiritual authority is not dramatic spectacle but part of normal discipleship. Clothed with Christ, we stand steady in contested spaces and grow in courage as we join in his work of liberation.
