Love Your Neighbour

Jesus commanded us to!

At St Paul’s, some of the best ways that we love one another is in Groups and serving one another and our communities in Crews. Click on the links to find out more.

Each year we run several large community events and several community programmes, especially focussed at supporting children and families and young people.

Join the ‘Phone Team’

If you are based in Tower Hamlets, our local food bank is First Love, they have specifically asked for the following items:

  • cooking oil

  • tinned salmon

First Love are looking for a new volunteers to join their team. Get in touch to find out more. If you are based elsewhere, do get in touch with your local food bank to see what they might need.

How can I love my neighbour?

If you are wanting to reach out to those most local to you, here are some suggestions for practical things you might be able to do to help if you feel able

  • Pray! Ask God to guide you to see those who might need your support

  • Keep in touch with others, especially those you know may be struggling

  • Post a note through a neighbour’s door (wash your hands!) giving your number in case of need

  • Check for locally coordinated volunteer groups (you can often find these by searching your local area on Facebook groups)

  • Let those who live near you know if you have an online delivery slot or are heading to the shops. The fewer trips out the better!

  • Support your local businesses. The butchers, veg shops, corner shops and delis tend to be well stocked and buying from them will help to keep your community thriving. Try to get your takeaway from your local independent restaurant if you can!

Anything else I can do?

Groups

Many of our Groups meet both in-person and online!

We believe that church is all about sharing life together, caring for and supporting each other, and equipping each other to grow in our faith. With the current global health crisis we need to encourage one another more than ever. We might not be able to go to one another’s homes but we can still come together (even virtually).

Crews

One of the ways that we love one another at St Paul’s is by serving one another. There’s always a lot going on and we would love for you to get involved.

Are you up for mixing the sound? Are you bursting with creative juices? Are you passionate about teaching young people? Do you love cooking on the bbq?

There are so many ways to serve each other and bless our communities, let’s do this thing together!
